The team at Autism Plus provide support for adults and young people with autism, neurodiverse conditions, learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
They weave maths and numbers-related learning through sessions focused on improving the wellbeing and lives of attendees. These sessions cover:
- Crochet Away to better maths skills – What stitches look like, how to hold your wool and needle, basic stitches, and how to crochet a granny square.
- Budgeting and Money management – Planning/saving for future plans, identifying the right time to start saving, understanding your basic necessary bills, and calculating what is left over if anything.
- Shopping on a budget – Exploring a range of offers at different supermarkets, the benefits of store cards/apps, calculating the cost of takeaways vs shopping for fresh food or using meal providers like Gousto and Hello Fresh, and identifying how you can live more cost effectively.
1:1 support is also available, with sessions covering the cost of living, managing money, saving for special occasions, understanding how tax works, journey planning and time management for work and appointments, support with applications for social benefits, debt management, and running your home more efficiently (energy and money management).
